Carolina Du Mode is a completely fictional Regency dressmaker, imagined to fill a gap in a lady’s wardrobe with versatile pieces designed for use at home, transitioning seamlessly from day to night. Think of it as Regency-era loungewear—although compared to her 21st-century counterpart, the .ai Regency lady has the upper hand in style.

 

Branding and Storytelling
Each design features a tagline to emphasise the narrative behind the outfit. The tagline for the day dress, Artful Woman, references the garden conversation at Netherfield between Lizzy and Lady Catherine. (This theme also inspired a perfume I created for Lizzy—because why not scent oneself with arts and allurements?)

The tagline for the Venus by Night outfit, Married Woman, suggests it is intended to be worn for one’s husband. At one point, I considered hinting at a nipple beneath the fabric but decided it stepped too far outside the Pride and Prejudiceaesthetic, even with a modern reinterpretation.
