Melnotte
Melnotte, a Parisian shoemaker with a warehouse in London, was prolific. Every major museum seems to have their slippers tucked somewhere in the collection. We loved the dual-city character of the brand. International fashion is often thought of as a modern phenomenon, yet Melnotte is proof that growth in fashion has always involved crossing borders.
Slippers were a staple of Regency fashion, often crafted from plain fabrics. Our versions lean in a more decorative direction: royal purple embroidered with bees, a nod to Napoleon—and perhaps our imagining of Melnotte’s ambition to court Marie Antoinette as a client.
For the display advertisements and in-shoe visual merchandising, we reworked Melnotte’s original branding. These designs can be seen in the accompanying imagery.
